HD: High definition, resolution with 720+ horizontal lines (1280×720, 1024×768, etc)
EDTV: Enhanced definition. Step down from HD, with 420 horizontal lines
Burn-in: An “after-image” that appears after a still picture is displayed for awhile
Rainbow Effect: Brief flashes of red/green/blue “shadows” seen most often when watching something that is bright/white and moving on a mostly black/dark background.
Resolution: The number of dots, or pixels, used to display an image. Higher resolutions use more pixels to display a better image. (vertical scan lines x horizontal scan lines):
-”i”: Interlaced. This means that the odd lines are “drawn” THEN the even lines are “drawn”
-”p”: Progressive. This means that the ALL of the lines are “drawn” at the same time
